Our standards

Our commitment to quality
huuman is an independent research publication focused on the science of human performance and longevity. We cover training, sleep, nutrition, metabolic health, and longevity biomarkers; topics where the evidence is strong and the stakes for getting it wrong are real.

Every article on huuman is written to help you make better health decisions. That responsibility shapes how we research, write, and maintain our content. Health information can change lives. It can also cause harm when it's wrong, misleading, or out of date. We hold ourselves to a high standard because our readers deserve nothing less.

How we research

Evidence hierarchy

Not all evidence is equal. We rank sources in this order:
1. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses: the strongest evidence; pooled data across multiple studies.
2. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs): gold standard for causation.
3. Observational and cohort studies: useful for associations; we flag when findings are observational, not causal.
4. Expert consensus and clinical guidelines: from established institutions (WHO, EFSA, medical boards).
We do not cite animal studies, mechanistic speculation, or single-study findings as conclusive evidence without qualification.

Primary sources only
Health claims are supported by peer-reviewed studies, clinical guidelines, or data from established medical institutions. We link directly to the original research, PubMed, institutional databases, and government health bodies, so you can verify every claim.

Association language
We default to "is associated with" or "studies suggest" rather than causal claims, unless the evidence clearly supports causation. When a finding comes from observational data, we say so explicitly.

Scientific uncertainty
When evidence is mixed, evolving, or limited, we flag it. We present what the research shows today, not what we wish it showed, and not what sounds compelling. Science changes; we change with it.

Our editorial process
Every article goes through a three-stage review before publication:
1. Research & sourcing: claims are identified and matched to primary sources. Any claim without a verifiable source is removed or reframed.
2. Accuracy review: the article is checked against current clinical guidelines and our evidence hierarchy. Causal language is flagged and corrected.
3. Source verification: every outbound link is tested. We prefer PubMed and institutional sources that remain accessible over time.

How we write

No name-dropping

We reference studies and institutions, not personalities. Our credibility comes from the evidence we cite, not from association with individuals.

No filler, no hype
We don't use scare tactics, clickbait, or exaggerated claims. If a supplement has weak evidence, we say that. If a habit has strong evidence, we explain the context and limitations honestly.

Decision-useful content
Every article aims to answer: "What does this mean for me?" We include thresholds, benchmarks, and practical guidance so readers can act on what they learn, not just understand it abstractly.

Plain language
We explain complex science clearly without dumbing it down. Our readers are intelligent and curious; they want depth, not jargon.

How we maintain qualityRegular updates
Articles are reviewed and updated as new evidence emerges. Every article displays its last-updated date. We treat our content as living documents, not archived posts.

Corrections policy
If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and note the correction transparently. Accuracy matters more than appearing to have been right the first time.

Source integrity
Every external link is verified before publication. We monitor for dead links and update them as needed.

What we cover and what we don't
huuman covers performance health: training adaptation, sleep science, heart rate variability, metabolic health, nutrition, fasting, and longevity biomarkers. Our content is grounded in exercise science, sleep medicine, and nutritional research. We do not publish content that diagnoses medical conditions, recommends specific supplement dosages, or advises on treatment for disease. That requires a clinical relationship we cannot provide. When a topic crosses that line, we say so and direct readers to qualified professionals.

What we don't do

We don't provide medical advice.

Our content is educational. It is not a substitute for professional medical guidance and should not be treated as such.

We don't accept payment for editorial content.
Our coverage is editorially independent. We do not accept sponsored content, affiliate placement, or payment in exchange for coverage or recommendations.

Our team
Content on huuman is researched and written by the huuman Editorial Team — researchers with backgrounds in exercise science, sleep medicine, metabolic health, and longevity research. We follow the standards on this page on every article, every time.
